Mr. Joseph Evan Soileau, 88, died at St. Frances Hospital in Monroe, La. on Oct. 26, 2009. Funeral Mass was held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Oct.31. Graveside ceremony was at Pine Crest West on Snow Road. 

He was born in Ville Platte, La. on June 30, 1921. He graduated from Maritime Academy, New London, Conn. as a Merchant Marine. He was a long time resident of Port Arthur and Bridge City having worked for Gulf Oil Company (Chevron) as Chief Engineer and Port Engineer, until retiring in 1995 after 39 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Soileau and Matty Anderson; sisters, Virgie Soileau and Nell Harrison; and brother Wayne Soileau. 

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy M. Soileau, sons, Jimmie B. Soileau, Timothy V. Soileau, Don David Soileau, Gary L. M. Soileau; daughters, Cynthia A. Green and Denise Y. Trahan; and siblings, Mr. & Mrs. Charles LeJune, Vergie Prejean, Harris Soileau, Barbara Soileau, Joyce Soileau and Belle Fontenot. He had 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
