Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a deceased male at 12281 North Highway 62 in Mauriceville, Friday morning around 6:39 a.m. 

Shane Leon Miller, a 45 year old Mauriceville man, was found this morning by his girlfriend in his home. sitting in his residence.

It was reported Mr. Miller was unable to sleep last night. He was sitting when his girlfriend found him.

Orange County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Janice Menard pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. Judge Menard ordered an inquest and Mr. Miller was transported to the Jefferson County Morgue.

According to Sgt. Chad Hogan of the sheriff’s department, the Criminal Investigations Division is conducting the investigation, assisted by investigators from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Doctor Brown determined that Miller died as a result of Bilateral Pulminary Emboli. He advised this was a blockage of the arteries of the lungs.
