BC Cross Country team headed to state

Harris Community College, Saturday, to qualify for the Class-3A State Cross Country Championships this weekend.

The state run will be held at Old Settler’s Park near Round Rock.

Cardinal distance runner Tim Cude led Big Red with a third place overall with a time of 16:30 on the three mile course. Kirby Shepherd, Luke Hebert, Arron Lejuene, Amanado Chavez, Sawyer Hogan and Matthew Wappler rounded out the Bridge City boys team.

The Cardinals finished behind first place Lufkin Hudson.

The Lady Cardinal cross country team finished in fourth place falling short of a state berth. Only team member Jessica Franklin will make make the trip to the state championships. Franklin finished 10th in the two mile course running 12:15 to qualify for state. Franklin bettered her previous best time by a full 30 seconds to qualify.

The Bridge City cross country teamm is coached by Cody Knight. Congratulations and best wishes to the Cardinals as they compete against the best in the state this weekend.
