Robert E. “Bob” Hailey, 78, of Orangefield, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009 at St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 in the Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange. Officiating will be Brother Mel Rowell with the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Honey Island. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., Friday, at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. 

Born on March 8, 1931 in Center to Hollis Haley and Mary Ann (Lundrum) Haley, he had lived in the Orangefield area for the last 35 years and had previously lived in Alabama. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Honey Island. Bob retired as a heavy equipment operator for the Orange County Road and Bridge department and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during Korea and Vietnam. Bob was an easy-going man who was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ingaborg (Sadler) Hailey: his second wife, Rosemary (Rossi) Hailey; sisters, Charlene Hailey and Sandra Scott; and his granddaughter, Sonya Hilliard. 

Those who will most cherish his memory are his children; daughters, Beate Griffin and husband Brian of Union Grove, Ala., Ana Schultz and husband, Jim of Owens Crossroads, Ala., Yvonne Hilliard and husband, Arvil of Orange, Annette Hailey of Huntsville, Ala., Elaine Smith and husband, Damon of Orangefield, Gina Ledbetter and husband, Bobby of Lacey’s Springs, Ala., Charlotte Belrose and husband, Bobby, Dianne Walker and husband, Keith, Suzanne Nichols all of Lumberton; son, Arthur Foux of Lumberton; sisters, Joann Mulhollan of Woodville and Carmel Fountain of Center; brothers, Billy Hailey and wife, Margie of Orange and Than Hailey of Dallas; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
