Bridge City
Claude “Buster” Abney, 74, of Bridge City, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 at St. Mary Hospital. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. at Dorman Funeral Home. Burial will follow after the service at 2 p.m. at Highland Cemetery in Lake Charles, La. Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 7, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was a native of Lake Charles, La; born on Nov. 4, 1935 to parents William Marion Abney and Edythe Marie (Miller) Abney. He served his country in the Army and had lived in the Orange area since 1967. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Bridge City. He owned and operated Abney Advertising. He had the heart and passion for his work. He enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts, Prison Ministry, wood working, going fishing, and he was one of the greatest joke tellers. Mr. Abney was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Titus Abney, Norman “Dickey” Abney; and sister, Grace Harvey.

He is survived by his wife, Alice (Garrett) Abney of Bridge City; daughters, Vickie Cooper and husband, Jeffery of Baton Rouge, La., Lydia Abney of Madisonville, Ala., Susan Hilton and husband, Greg of Bridge City; son, Carlton “Tatar” Abney and wife, Chantelle of Bridge City; sister, Lillian Linscomb of Sulphur, La.; brothers, Ted Abney and wife, Shirley of Sulphur, Max Abney and wife, Joan of Oklahoma; six grandchildren and three great-children.
