Jerry Marion, 66 of Vidor died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at his residence in Vidor. . Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Vidor, with burial to follow at Williamson Cemetery in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Tuesday, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.
Jerry was born on Dec. 14, 1942 in Midland, Mich. to Oliver and Isabel Marion. He was a member of Orange County Sheriffs Alumna Association and retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a M.Sgt. after 22 years of service, Jerry served in the Marine Corps in the Vietnam Conflict for over two years. He also retired from the U.S. Post Office after 17 years. Jerry was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Vidor and he served his mission in Camp Legeune, N.C.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nelwyn Marion of Vidor; sons, Jerry J. Marion Jr. of Liberty, Mo., Michael “Mike” S. Marion of Vidor, Oliver E. Marion II of Orange; daughter, Sonja M. Doty of Ogden, Utah; brothers, Ira L. Marion of Tampa, Fla., Benjamin Squires of Midland, Mich.; sisters, Cyndi Sanderson of Midland, Mich., Beverly Bradley of Auburn, Mich.; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
