Cora Ann Woodard, 60, of Newton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009 at Christus Hospital – St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. Services to remember her life were held Saturday, Dec. 12, in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Interment was in Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange.

Born on April 6, 1949 in Orange, she had lived in Newton for a year, in Waco for three years and was a prior longtime resident of the Orange area. Cora was of the Methodist faith. She was once a cosmetology instructor. Cora enjoyed caring for and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers.

Cora is preceded in death by her parents, George James “Jimmy” Lund and Kathryn Laura (Smith) Lund; her son, Jesse Swire Jr.; and her brother, Thomas Dale Lund Sr.

Those who will most cherish her memory are her husband, Henry Woodard of Newton; daughters, Cori Woodard of Newton, Elizabeth Wallis of Boyd, Texas, Eugenia Annette Rochau of Newton and Alexis Williamson and husband, Brent of Pawcatuck, Conn.; her sisters, Theresa Madden and husband, Tommy of Orange, Doris Hamm of Orange and Donna Woods of Orangefield. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Connie Curphey, Timothy Shane Campbell, Cristin Wallis, Kenneth Swire, David Ryan Morris, Erica Browne, Byron Keith Rochau, Michael Williamson, Henry Williamson, John Williamson and Samuel Williamson; five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephew and extended family.

Serving as pallbearers for the service were Joshua Curphey, Arthur LeBleu, Johnny Ray LeBleu, Willis Doucet, Brent Williamson and Jerry Lewis “Bubba” Morris Jr.
