Frances Juanita Davenport, 82, of Buna and formerly of Bridge City passed away on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at her residence in Buna. A gathering of friends and family will take place from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur. A Chapel Service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 17, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

Frances was born on Dec. 19, 1926, in Mobile, Ala. to Emma Turner Fayard and Florin Whitney Fayard. She was a wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother and great-grandmother. Frances was also the former owner of Nanny’s Day Care in Bridge City for sixteen years and loved all the children she and her staff took care of. She was a member of the Baptist faith and had lived in Port Arthur twelve years, Bridge City for fifty years and in Buna for the past year.

Survivors include her daughter, Marie Helton and her husband, Lawrence of Buna; son, Ernest Davenport and his friend, Wendy Kemp of Bridge City; grandchildren, Larry Helton, Donnie Helton and his wife, Melissa, Earl Davenport and his wife, Dawn and Tammy Johnston and her husband, Pat; great-grandchildren, Dana Helton, Blake Johnston, John Earl Davenport and Emma Marie Davenport; sister-in-law who was more like a sister to Frances, Polly Hartman of Bridge City; numerous nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Davenport who passed away in 1989.
