Registration for spring semester classes at Lamar State College-Port Arthur will continue through the college’s Web site ( during the school’s holiday break. The college will reopen Jan. 4. Spring semester classes begin Jan. 11.  

Spring courses include a full range of academic and technical courses along with “hybrid courses” in which students meet in the classroom one or two days a week and complete the rest of the course online at their convenience.  

Tom Neal, vice president for student services, said, “Hybrid courses offers students greater flexibility in scheduling, decreased travel to campus and the opportunity for greater control of their learning experiences.”

The college also offers evening instruction at Nederland High School in accounting, chemistry and legal assistant courses.
Students can enroll in online courses in English composition, biology, business, economics, government, home economics, history, health information, philosophy, physics, psychology, nursing, sociology and computer science, plus developmental

Continuing students not subject to Texas Success Initiative test restrictions and students who passed all parts of the THEA or ASSET tests can register using their personal identification numbers.
