Joe Parker Jr., 75, of Vidor, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. Funeral services were Thursday, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with graveside services at Byerly Campground Cemetery in Jasper. 

He was born June 29, 1934 at the families old home place in Jasper, which is designated in the Texas Family Land Heritage Program as a Century Farm. He has lived in Vidor since 1957, and was a retired operator with B.F. Goodrich Plant in Port Arthur. He owned a small engine repair shop– Joe’s Mower and ATV. He loved recording music, dancing, being with his family and friends and making people smile. Joe served his country in the Army during the Korean War. 

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Irma Parker Sr.; brother, Lamar Parker; and sister, Margaret McWilliams. 

He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Parker Biddy and husband, Robbie of Kountze, and Carol Parfait of Vidor, three grandchildren, Ricky Segrest, Roger Segrest and Cecilia Marsh; three great-grandchildren, Monet Holmes, Tisha Segrest, and Deven Segrest; and one great-great grandchild, Ja’Cuincy Holmes.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Arfeen, Dr. Sortolongo, Dr. Stout, Tammy Hanson PC, Courtney Rumery, Belinda Eddy and the staff of Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont.
