Cleo Burkart, 72, of the Cove community of Orange, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, in her home. Funeral services were Friday in Dorman Funeral Home. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Born Sept. 13, 1937 in Palestine to Augustus Forrester and Nannie (Nix) Forrester, she had lived in Orange for 32 years. She owned and operated Allen’s Boat Storage and Marina in the Cove, where she prepared many of meals to share with family and friends. Cleo was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and she enjoyed country music.
Cleo is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Milton Forrester and Wendell Forrester; her sister, Georgie Williams and her late husband Harlan Commer.
Those who will most cherish her memory are her loving husband of 32 years Allen Burkart of Orange; her daughters, Debbie Commer of Orange, D’Anne Hoffpauir and husband Glenn of Orange and Dania Matak and husband Pete, of Fannett; her son, Harlan Commer and wife Sharon of Orange; her sisters, Mary Wagner and Estelle Connell and husband Ed all of Orange; her grandchildren, Teddy Hoffpauir, Angela Hoffpauir, Stefanie Matak and her companion, Jason Turner and Pete Matak, IV; great grandchildren, Noble Turner, Mason Hoffpauir, Mikel Hoffpauir, MacKenzie Hoffpauir, Angelique Louise and awaiting the arrival of Jeremy Allen Cockerham.
