Bill Jordan, 78, of Nederland died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow in Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
A native of Port Arthur, he lived in Vidor for 50 years before moving to Nederland two years ago. Bill was a retired pressure control supervisor with Southern Union Gas (Texas Gas) for 45 years. He was a 47-year-member of Maplecrest Baptist in Vidor where he became an ordained deacon in 1973. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church of Nederland, and was a avid contributor of the United Way. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Donna Lynn, parents, and four brothers. Bill is survived by his wife Sherry Jordan of Nederland, daughters Denise Kaye Scott and husband Doug of Pearland, and Denette Elaine Marchand and husband Elvin of Nederland, sisters Violet Powell of Nederland, and Velma Anderson of Hemphill, four grandchildren: Dan’na McCurry, Ashleigh Williams, Jordan Scott and Derek Deese, two great-grandchildren: Kodi Williams and Jaxen Rouse.
