Allen Maurice Potier, 82, of Orange, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.  Graveside services will be at St. Paschal Catholic Church Cemetery in West Monroe, La. under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe. Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m., Sunday, March 21, at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.  

Born on April 4, 1927 in Orange to parents, Maria (Verrett) Potier and Eli Potier, he had lived in Orange for the past 24 years, and previously lived in West Monroe. He graduated with honors and a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, La. and was a veteran of the Army.  Allen was of the catholic faith and worked as a maintenance supervisor for the DuPont Sabine River Works Plant in Orange, retiring in 1985.  Allen enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, fishing and going to the casino. 

Allen is preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Blanche Potier; and wife, Betty Wainwright Potier.  

Those who will most cherish his memory are his wife of 24 years, Mildred Katherine “Kat” Potier of Orange;  daughter, Karen J. Wilson of West Monroe; son, Bruce Allen Potier and wife, Laura of Killeen; stepdaughters, Sharon Landers and Rhonda Isaacs both of Groves; stepson, Dale Wade and wife, Becky of New Braunfels; sisters, Joy Cole of California and Rene Child and husband, Stephen of Pennsylvania; brother, Michael Potier of Florida; grandchildren, Dana York, William Wade, Steven Potier, Christopher Henderson, Amanda Isaacs and Lindsey Isaacs; great-grandchildren, Sidney York, Francesca York and Akira Christopher. Allen is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
