Lee Alan Portie, 70, of Vidor, died March 17, 2010 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 21, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Hackberry Cemetery in Hackberry. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

He was born in Lake Charles, La., June 10, 1939 to Leland and Ethel Portie; was raised in Hackberry, La. and was a longtime resident of Vidor. He worked at Mobil Chemical in Beaumont for 34 years and retired as a supervisor. Lee Alan has traveled the world with his family and for work. He has worked in Saudi Arabia with Aramco and in Singapore with Mobil. He loved gardening and was an avid cook. Lee Alan was an Eagle Scout and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. 

Lee Alan is survived by his wife, Lyndia Portie of Vidor; sons, Leland Thomas Portie and his wife, Monica, of Mauriceville, Lee Alan Portie of Vidor; daughter, Sheila Garrett and her husband, Danny of Vidor; sister, Vera Burleson of Sulphur, La.; grandchildren, Darline Garrett, Dillon, Jake, Brenner and Carley Portie.
