Fain C. Holbrooks Sr., 78, of Orange passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 29, at 10 a.m. at Dorman Funeral Home, with the Rev. Barry Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 5 until 9 p.m. 

He was a native of Piedmont, Ala.; born on Feb. 18, 1932 to parents Gent Holbrooks, and Velma (McCullum) Holbrooks. He served his county in the Army during the Korean War. He had lived in the Orange area for 42 plus years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Orange. He enjoyed watching old cowboy movies, especially movies with John Wayne in them. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Clay Holbrooks; one sister, and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Vivian (Sanford) Holbrooks; daughters, Pat Jay and husband, Donnie, Sheila Holbrooks, all of Orange; son, Fain “Butch” Holbrooks Jr. and wife, Patti of Bridge City; grandchildren, Jennifer Chitty, James Holbrooks, Kristinn “Best Buddy” Holbrooks, Jessica Jay, Josie Jay; great-grandchildren, Zack, Matt, Hannah, Aidan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Langston Fredrick, Dr. Stephen Kiser, Mike Broussard, Les Jones, Herald Haas and Christopher Bellard. Honorary pallbearers will be Orangefield varsity volleyball team, Rylie Granger, Ashlee Broussard, Carly Rucker, Aimee Scales, Abby Ludwig, Ashlyn Lopez, Kasidy Hayes, Morgan Taylor, Haley Cole, Kacey Juneau, Leslie Spell, Jessica Hebert, and Kaitlynn Henson (K-10).
