Louisiana Airboat Rides, a Louisiana-based corporation operating in Orange, hopes to take the place of the former Super Gator Tours, knocked out since Hurricane Rita in 2005.

Stan Floyd, previous owner of Super Gator Tours, says tours started April 2 and can be booked by calling 883-0318.

“We’ve had literally thousands of calls since Rita, which pretty much put us out of the ride business,” Floyd said.

Louisiana Airboat Rides also plans sales and distribution operations, and leasing for construction sites around water, he said.

“We will have night and day tours,” he said. “We started out with six passenger boats, and we have an 18-passenger boat under construction.”

“We also plan to get a little heavier into the rescue process,” Floyd said. Some of Floyd’s airboats came in handy after flooding caused by Hurricane Ike.

Tour prices are $35 for adults, $30 for senior citizens (62 and up) and $20 for children (12 and under). All prices include tax.

Louisiana Airboat Rides is located at 108 E. Lutcher Drive, next to the offices of American Airboat Corp.
