Orange Community Players will present the Southeast Texas premiere of,

“Urinetown: The Musical,” the 2003 Tony Award winner for Best Musical

Score and Best Book of a Musical, May 11-16, at the Orange Community

Playhouse, 708 W. Division St.

Set in a mythical town that has

suffered from a drought for over 20 years, in which citizens are forced

to pay to use the restroom, Urinetown is directed by Kevin Doss. The

production features Adam Conrad, Jennifer Garrison, Doug Rogers, Matt

Tonkovich, Brook Doss and Janet Bland in principal roles, with an

ensemble of over 25.

The musical satirizes many famous Broadway

musicals, including “West Side Story” and “Les Miseralbles.” It spoofs

the institution of the Broadway musical, itself. The horrible title is

made fun of in the first five minutes of the show.

The curtain rises

at 7:37 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. For

reservations, call 882-9137. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
