Darrell Lee McCarver, 70, of Deweyville passed away on April 26, 2010 in Deweyville. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 30 from 5-9 p.m. at Dorman Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 1 at 10 a.m. at King Cemetery in Hartburg.

He was a native and life long resident of Orange and Deweyville; born on Oct. 13, 1939 to parents Otho McCarver and Julia (Semar) McCarver. He served his country between Korean conflict and the Vietnam War in the Army. He worked in construction and retired as boilermaker after 10 years with Local #485. He was a member of Old Laurel Baptist Church in Devil’s Pocket. One of his hobbies was carpentry and he loved spending time with his family, who will dearly miss him.

He was preceded is death by his parents; Mr. And Mrs. McCarver; brothers, Joseph Otho McCarver and Ernest McCarver.

His is survived by his wife, Edith (Haley) McCarver of Deweyville; daughter, Dianne McCarver of Deweyville; son, Randall McCarver and wife, Wendi of North Carolina; grandchildren, Derek Simmonds, Michael Simmonds, Kelsey McCarver, Katey McCarver; sister, Golda Ursery of Arkansas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
