Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD was recently notified by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts that the district has earned the Gold Leadership Circle Award for financial transparency on the District’s website.

The Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle program was launched in December 2009 to recognize local governments across Texas that are striving to meet a high standard for financial transparency online. This program is spotlighting those local governments that are opening their books to the public; providing clear, consistent pictures of spending; and sharing information in a user-friendly format that lets taxpayers easily drill down for more information.

Local governments that meet certain criteria are awarded bronze, silver, and gold level designations.

“I am proud that LCM has been awarded the gold level or highest level designation” stated Greg Perry, Asst. Superintendent. “We take our role as good stewards of taxpayer’s money very seriously, and while we have always been happy to share financial information with anyone from the public who requested to see it, technology now allows us to put everything out there on the website for anyone with an interest to review.”

The comptroller’s website states the gold level, “…highlights those entities that are setting the bar in their transparency efforts.” Comptroller Susan Combs states on the award sent to the district, “By providing citizens with a clear, consistent picture of spending and sharing information in a user-friendly format, you are setting a strong example for other governmental entities to follow.”

Along with the award, the district has received the gold level insignia that is proudly displayed on the district’s main homepage.
