Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD honored its own on Friday, May 7, during the annual Recognition Celebration. Retirees, and those achieving years of service in increments of 5 were recognized and received service awards. Among those honored were the District Teachers of the Year. Patti Steele, math acceleration teacher of Little Cypress Intermediate, was selected Elementary Teacher of the Year and Secondary Teacher of the Year is Jane Dunn, Advanced Placement and Co-enrolled Chemistry teacher at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School.

Dunn and Steele were among six campus teachers of the year who are nominated and chosen by their co-workers. District winners are chosen by an anonymous panel of judges outside of the LCM organization. Other campus winners were Laura Silva of Little Cypress Elementary; Iva Switzer of Mauriceville Elementary; Cindy Blair of Little Cypress Junior High; and Judy Brown of Mauriceville Middle.
