Former Lamar State College-Port Arthur shortstop Christina Jaques from Bridge City, who now plays for the Belhaven University softball team, recently was named to the All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Softball Team.

Jaques, who played for Lamar State during the 2008 and 2009 seasons, led Belhaven’s offense this year with a .480 season batting average, including 57 runs, eight home runs, nine triples and 43 RBIs.

The junior shortstop hit .569 in Belhaven’s conference games.

Jaques was second on the team and in the NAIA in stolen bases with 56 steals in 65 attempts.

Earlier this year, she was named to the All-Gulf Coast Conference Volleyball Team.

Jaques still holds 13 single-season and all eight two-year offensive records at Lamar State.
