A bomb threat was called in to Mauriceville Elementary this morning.

The emergency response plan was activated immediately by the faculty and staff. While the children were being evacuated, law enforcement and fire officials, who were on site in minutes, began sweeping the building.

The school was pronounced clear and clean. Students have returned to the building and lunches and classes have resumed.

“The Little Cypress-Mauriceville District greatly appreciates the immediate response of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, its Criminal Investigation Division, and the Mauriceville Volunteer Fire Department,” said Sherry Combs in a statement from the school. “We are also proud of our faculty, staff, and students for the effective implementation of the emergency plan.”
