The Orangefield Bobcats and the Bridge City Cardinals are moving on in the Class-3A state baseball playoffs. The West Orange-Stark Mustangs will be staying home.

Despite a surprise 4-2 victory over the Bobcats on Friday, the Mustangs didn’t survive Saturdays thrashing by Orangefield. The Bobcats took Game Two and Game Three, 11-0 and 12-0.

Orangefield pitcher Chase Angelle got the win on the hill for both games. Corey Huckabay and Jonathan DeRamus each hit homeruns against WOS.

Next week the No. 4 ranked Orangefield will take on the No. 1 ranked Robinson in the Region III semifinal round.

The Bridge City Cardinals went into Saturday’s quarterfinal series with a one game lead against Huffman but dropped Game Two, 2-0. Big Red came back to take Huffman down 7-4 in Game Three.

The No. 8 ranked Bridge City Cardinals will advance to the semifinal round against No. 5 ranked Jasper next week.
