Aubrey Gertrude Hawkins, 81, of Starks, La., passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010 at West Calcasieu-Cameron Hospital in Sulphur, La. A memorial service to remember her life will be at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 1 in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev. Chris DuBose, pastor of First Baptist Church in Starks. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.

Born on Oct. 6, 1928 in Whiteville, La. to Frederich Hugh Savant and Alice Florentine (Rougeau) Savant, Aubrey  graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Beaumont in 1947. She had lived in Starks since 1995 and had previously lived in Panama City, Fla. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of First Baptist Church in Starks. She retired as a cashier in a grocery while living in Florida. She was a very jovial, Godly lady who enjoyed reading.

Mrs. Hawkins is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Archie C. Miller, who passed in 1980; her second husband, Edward Hawkins, who passed in 1994 and her numerous brothers and sisters.

Those who will cherish her memory are her son, Archie Frederich Miller of Monroe, Wash.; her great-nephew, R. T. Barnes and his wife, Jackie of Starks who cared for her during her final years. Mrs. Hawkins is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
