Bridge City
John Clifton Phares Jr., 77, of Bridge City passed away on Monday, June 28, 2010, at his residence in Nederland with his loving family at his side. A gathering of friends and family was held Wednesday, June 30, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur. Services were conducted Thursday morning, July 1 at Triumph Church in Nederland with the Rev. Randy Clark officiating.  Burial was held Monday, July 5 at the Houston National Cemetery.

John was born on Sept. 12, 1932, in McAllen to Dorothy and Jake Clifton Phares Sr. He lived in Bridge City for over three decades of his life and was a retired Engineer with Gulf States Utilities. John was a member of Triumph Church in Nederland and was a Korean conflict veteran serving in the Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Phares; children, Cynthia Kay Phares, Debra Lynn Phares, Marcus Owen Phares and Susan Elaine Phares Cooper; stepchildren, Douglas Ray Boehm and Judith Kay Eaves; grandchildren, Stephanie Ann Boehm and her husband, Shane Winston Kovar, Christopher Alan and his wife, Arianna, Danielle Boehm, Aubree Leigha Eaves and her husband, Johnathan William Snipes, Emily Elizabeth Eaves, Charles Daniel Eaves, Zephaniah Blaine Eaves, Angelique Faye Boehm, Joshua “T-Ray” Sehon, Dalton Marcus Phares, Dakota Marcus Phares, Kacee Montana Cooper and Karlee Michael Cooper; great-grandchildren, Kolby John Kovar and Chase Winston Kovar.

Pallbearers were Marcus Phares, Daniel Eaves, Dan Doiron, Johnathan Snipes, Walter Granger and Glen Schade.  Honorary pallbearers were Dalton Phares, Dakota Phares, Zephaniah Eaves and Joshua ‘T-Ray’ Sehon.
