Southeast Texas Stand Down 2010

The Orange County Veterans Service Office will be closed Friday, July 16, as office personnel will be take part in the Southeast Texas Stand Down 2010 at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church, 3755 Fannett Road, Beaumont. The office will be open again at 8 a.m. Monday, July 19.

The Orange County VSO has been preparing for the event with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Task Force for the Homeless and other county VSOs in the Southeast Texas region. The event will host many service agencies in the Golden Triangle area to provide information on benefits, housing and other assistance.

“Stand Down” is a military terminology referring to a brief period when a soldier leaves a combat area for rest and recuperation. Southeast Texas Stand Down provides access to specialized resources to help homeless and homeless veterans. For more information, call the Orange County VSO at (409) 745-1535.

In addition, effective Aug. 2, Orange County VSO will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. so personnel may conduct staff meetings, training and further research/development of currently pending benefits claims through the VA.
