Rev. and First Lady Lindsey celebrate 23 years
Pastor E.B. Lindsey and First Lady Josie Lindsey will be honored July 15-18. Three speakers will be on hand for the celebration. At 7:30 p.m., Thursday, the guest speaker is Pastor Larry Brooks of Full Gospel Holy Temple. Pastor William Wilson of Jones Memorial Church of God in Christ, Beaumont will speak at 7:30 p.m., Friday. The speaker for the finale, Sunday, is Elder Anthony Thomas of 6th Street Community Church of God in Christ at 3:30 p.m.
For the past 23 years, the Rev. Lindsey has been the Pastor of Starlight COGIC. He is a native of Orange. He graduated from Wallace High School and served four years in the Air Force. Afterward he attended Texas State University in Houston and later graduated from Charles Harrison Mason System of Bible College. E.B. believes in the power of prayer and moves in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Under his leadership, Starlight has grown and is a vital part of the community. In 1994, under Lindsey’s leadership, the congregation moved into a brand new sanctuary, and in December of 2000 the E. B. Family Life Center was built which consist of classrooms, office, and a Board room with a large fellowship hall. He is the father of five children and fourteen grandchildren.
Josie was saved at an early age and has worked in many areas of the church. Sr. Lindsey is a national evangelist and has served as local Sunday school superintendent for more than 20 years, district and state SS field representative, first vice president to the National Young Women Christian Counsel, and has taught workshops in AIM, the Women’s Convention and in Memphis Convocation. She has appeared on television and the radio.
Director of women’s ministries at her local church, she is actively involved in ministry. Josie has also served with the Texas Southeast First Jurisdiction as coordinator of development and training for the jurisdiction, finance chair for the state women’s department and a member of the executive women’s board. She is the district missionary for the east coast district.
