Mrs. Edna Gibson, 78, of Deweyville passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 3, at The United Pentecostal Church of Deweyville, with the Rev. Darrell Orange officiating. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery in Starks, La. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until on Monday at the church.

She was a native of Starks, La.; born on Feb. 20, 1932 to parents Louis and Daisy Doyle. She had lived in the Deweyville area for 52 years and was a member of The United Pentecostal Church of Deweyville. Some of her hobbies were cooking, quilting and shopping. She loved to spend time with family; her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy and fulfillment in life was working for the Lord. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Weldon “Hoot” Gibson; three brothers, and three sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Malone of Deweyville, Midge Ness and her husband, Leif of Essex, Mont.; sons, Steve G. Gibson and his wife, Wanda of Deweyville, Lanny E. Gibson and his wife, Shelia of Deweyville; brother, Clifton Doyle and his wife, Lurlene of Buna; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
