Harold “Ray” Gardner Sr., 73, of Orange, passed away Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010 at Christus Hospital – St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.  Services to remember his life will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11 in the chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.  Officiating will be John Fortenberry.  A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. 

Born on Oct. 30, 1936 in Dallas to parents, William Harold Gardner and Lucille (Henry) Gardner, he lived in Orange for the past 44 years and worked as a truck driver for Betz Laboratories. He retired in 1994 with 35 years of service.  Ray was of the Baptist faith.He never met a stranger. Ray went to work after retirement for Potter’s Mirror Glaze in Orange. He enjoyed racing dirt track cars and watching Nascar. 

Ray is preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Marion Morgan.

Those who will most cherish his memory are his loving wife of 42 years, Dixie Gardner of Orange; son, Harold Ray Gardner Jr. and wife, Stacey of Orange; daughters, Lisa Morgan of Quinlan, Texas, Susie Jimenez and husband, Joe of Dallas, Marcy Amis of Nevada, Texas and Cynthia Holton and husband, Jeff of Orange; nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
