Bridge City
David Eugene Darby Sr., 62, of Bridge City died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m Thursday, Sept. 9, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City. Officiating will be the Rev. David Millner of Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m., Wednesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Port Arthur, on Aug. 16, 1948, David was the son of Imogene (Glaze) and J.C. Darby. He worked as a sandblaster and painter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Imogene and J.C.; and brothers, John Darby, Grady Darby, and Claude Darby.

David is survived by his wife, Darlene Shelyn Darby of Bridge City; son and daughter-in-law, David Eugene Darby Jr. and Dorothy of Bridge City; daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Terry Harvey of Orange; son and daughter-in-law, John L. and Jennifer Darby of Nederland; daughter and son-in-law, Kari and John Vallery of Orange; son, Conrad Schaub of Bridge City; son, Christopher Darby of Kountze; daughter, Donna Darby of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Preston and Julie Schaub of Concord, N.H.; son, Sheldon Darby of Bridge City; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Ford; sister, Zelda Bland; brother, Jack Darby; sister, Lattie Jo Heflin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
