Bridge City High School kicked off their homecoming week on Monday, Sept. 20 with class colors day, a pep rally and a homecoming dance. The pep rally consisted of the burning of the letters, the Strutters did a dance routine and fantastic fireworks. 

Tuesday’s theme was nerd/geek day and Freshman, JV and Varsity volleyball games against Hamshire Fannett at Bridge City. 

Wednesday’s theme is “Blast from the past” and homecoming elections will take place during second period. 

Thursday’s theme is “Duct Tape.” The Freshman football game at Stafford High School at 5:30 p.m. and the JV Football game at Stafford High School at 7:30 p.m.

Friday’s theme will be “Spirit Day.”  A pep rally will take place at Competition Gym, BCHS Alumni will host a tailgate party at BCMS gym from 4 to 8 p.m., Varsity, JV and Freshman volleyball teams will play against Hardin at home from 4:30 to 10 p.m. and the Varsity football team will play against Stafford at Larry Ward Memorial Stadium at Bridge City High School.

Bridge City High School students have also started a fundraiser to help with Reggie Garrett Jr.’s family with the funeral expenses.

The Football Sweetheart, Cheer Beau, Band Sweetheart and Beau and Drill Team Sweetheart and Beau will be announced at half-time during the High School football game.  The 2010 Homecoming Court are as follows:

Representing the Freshman Class:

Brooke Bertles, she will be escorted by her father, Stuart Bertles.  Brooke is a member of the Freshman/JV cheer leading squad, Cardinals for Christ and she is involved in the youth group at First Baptist Church of Bridge City.

Ashleigh Fukuda, she will be  escorted by her father, Paul Fukuda.  Ashleigh is a member of the Freshman/JV cheer leading squad, and is a NCA All American Cheerleader. She is the Student Council Representative for the Freshmen Class.

Representing the Sophomore Class:

Andrea Alvarez, she will be escorted by her father, Gabriel Alvarez .  Andrea is a member of the Spanish Club

Kadijah West, she will be escorted by her Uncle, Christopher Simmons. Kadijah is a member the basketball team, Computer Science Club and the girl’s athletics program. She is a UIL One Act Play participate.

Representing the Junior Class:

Brooklyn Hogden, she will be escorted by her father, Cody Hogden. Brooklyn is a member of the Varsity cheer leading squad.  She is a NCA All American Cheerleader and was a 2010 Cheer Hawaii participate. She is a member of the Varsity Volleyball Team, Varsity Basketball Team, and Varsity Softball Team, the National Honor Society, the Ready Set Teach Program and the Texas Association of Future Educators. She is the Student Council Class Treasurer for the Junior Class and she attends Winfree Baptist Church.

Kayla Pruitt, she will be escorted by her father, Kirk Pruitt. Kayla is a member of the Strutter Drill Team and En Croix, Fellowship of Christian Dancers.  

Representing the Senior Class:

Taylor Abshire, she will be escorted  by her father, Darrell Abshire. Taylor is the President of the Bridge City Cosmetology Skills USA Team, FCCLA, the Art Club and Cardinals for Christ.

Blair Bishop, she will be escorted  by her father, Bryan Bishop.  Blair is a member of the Varsity Cheer leading Squad, She is a NCA All American Cheerleader and was a 2010 Cheer Hawaii Participate. She is the president of HOSA and is a member of the Track team and the Criminal Justice Club.

Brittany Carpenter, she will be escorted by her father, Frank Carpenter. Brittany is the Student Council Secretary for the Senior Class. She is the Financial Secretary of the Texas Association of Future Educators and she is a member of the Spanish Club.

Olivia Hubbard, she will be escorted by her father, Lon Hubbard. Olivia is a member of the Varsity Cheer leading squad.  She was a 2010 Cheer Hawaii Participate. She is the Vice President and of the Teachers Association of Future Educators as well as the District Treasurer. She is a member of the Ready Set Teach Program and she is the Student Council Senior Class President. 

Merissa Underwood, she will be escorted  by her father, Ronnie Underwood.  Merissa is also known as BIG RED. She is a NCA All American Mascot, the NCA Leadership Award Recipient, the NCA best all around Mascot of 2010. The NCA Most Spirited Mascot and was chosen as a NCA Staff Nominee. She is the Co-President of the Art Club and a member of FCCLA. She was a participate of the 2010 RYLA Leadership Camp and she is the Executive Student Council Parliamentarian for BCHS.

Last year’s Queen, Ms. Ricci Shoemaker will crown the 2010 Homecoming Queen. She will be escorted by Mr. Richard Briggs, Principal at Bridge City High School.
