Mr. Richard M. Coon Jr., 86, of Orange, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at Cypress Glenn Nursing Home in Port Arthur.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. at

Dorman Funeral Home, with a gathering of family and friend from 9 a.m.

until service time. The Rev. Bobby Granger will be officiating. Burial will

follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange.

He was a native of Orange; born to parents Richard Monroe Coon Sr. and Vannie (Morrow) Coon. He had served his country in the Army during WWII and he was a member of the Baptist Faith. He had lived most of his life in Orange and the last few years in Port Arthur. He enjoy the outdoors; going deer hunting, camping and was a member of Bass Fishermen Club. Mr. Coon was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.

His was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jane Coon; second wife, Marcie Coon; daughter, Patsy Coon; sisters, Nellie Johnson, Bessie Smith, Jeanette Webb and brother, George Coon.

He is survived by his sons, Richard Monroe Coon III and wife Cheryl of Port Arthur, James Randal Coon of Orange, Thomas Gene Coon of Orange; brothers, W.A. “Bill” Coon and Luz of Port Arthur, Pete Coon and wife Mary of West Orange; eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
