Madeline Bailey, 58, of Bridge City was treated and released after being assaulted and stabbed in the 400 block of Lake Charles Ave. in Port Arthur, Monday morning, according to the Port Arthur Police Department.

Bailey’s pickup truck was found in the center of the roadway and appeared to have been stripped.

Bailey was taken to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. While at the hospital the victim told officers that she was in Port Arthur at a business that she owns when she was approached by a black female who was a tenant at the apartment owned by Bailey.

The suspect asked Bailey for a ride where she began assaulting the victim with a knife or box cutter.

Bailey jumped from the pickup in an attempt to flee but fell down and was then dragged in a vacant building and stabbed or cut several times. She was also beaten with an unknown object.

Bailey was able to escape and fled when she was spotted by witnesses who called the police. The witnesses told police that the suspect had jumped into Bailey’s pickup and attempted to take it but fled on foot after the truck failed to start.

The Port Arthur Police Dept. have identified a possible suspect.
