DPS today released a photograph to assist in the search for a high risk sex offender on civil commitment who fled a northeast Houston halfway house Friday night.

Bruce McCain, 51, was last seen around 9:30 p.m. Friday in the Loop 610/Beaumont Highway area. McCain was originally sentenced for two sexual assaults in Nueces County in 1986. He was paroled in May and placed on electronic monitoring. He is now wanted on a felony civil commitment charge and law enforcement is actively searching for the suspect.

McCain is 5 feet 6 inches tall, about 160 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He has numerous tattoos, including a spider web tattoo on the right side of his neck. Authorities consider the fugitive violent. Anyone who aids the suspect could face criminal charges.
