Raymond McKinley Shadle, 83, of Orange, died Monday, Oct. 4 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with Reverend Lynn Ashcraft officiating. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas on Oct. 13, 1926, Raymond was the son of Alma (Vanderpelt) and McKinley Shadle. He was a longtime member and a Deacon at North Orange Baptist Church and he retired from DuPont as a maintenance foreman. Raymond was also a cabinet builder, and was very talented in woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Louise Brown; and brother, E.B. Shadle.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rose Marie Shadle of Orange; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Bill Smith of Orange; and son and daughter-in-law, David and Catherine Shadle of Beaumont.        

He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Kristi Smith of Austin and Kevin Smith and his wife Alyson of Bridge City; three great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Kollin and Kaylea Smith; brother and sister, Otis Lee Shadle and Billie Jean Hargrove, both of Conway, Arkansas.
