TxDOT launches ‘Report a Pothole’ initiative
who want to report a pothole on Texas highways can now get a message
directly to the agency that’s responsible for pavement upkeep.
Department of Transportation launched the reporting system as part of a
broader plan to communicate better with residents, said transportation
department executive director Amadeo Saenz. “It’s like an extension of
our maintenance forces,” he said.
There are two ways to report a pothole:
- Call 888-885-8248. Operators will answer calls 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
weekdays. Voice mails left after hours will be returned the next
business day, officials said.
- Visit www.txdot.gov, click on “report a pothole” at the home page and fill out an online form.
The new reporting system is easier for most people to use,
spokeswoman Cynthia Northrop White said. In the past, residents who
wanted to report a pothole often weren’t sure which office to call. Now
the information is collected statewide, through one phone number and one
website. “It’s more of a holistic system we all have access to,” she
