West Orange
Matthew C. Etheredge, 23, of West Orange passed away on Monday, Oct. 11, 2010. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 14 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Dorman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brad Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Matthew was a native of Galveston; born on Nov. 12, 1986 to parents Barbara Soileau and Al Mark Etheredge. He had lived most of his life in Orange. Matthew was employed as a switchman with Trans-Global Solutions and was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Bridge City. He enjoyed tinkering around the house, trying to fix things. His was honored and proud to be a volunteer with the West Orange Fire Department for four years, where his was a fire captain. Matthew was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by grandparents-in-law Jack and Eloise Jefferson.

Matthew is survived by his wife of four years, Amanda (Carriere) Etheredge of West Orange; mother, Barbara (Soileau) Lopez and stepfather, David, of West Orange; father, Al Mark Etheredge of Tellico Plains, Tenn.; sisters, Rachel Winfree and husband, Kevin, of Groves, Sara Etheredge and fiancée, Woody, of Bridge City; brother, Edward Bernal and wife, Alisa, of West Orange; stepbrother, Chris Lopez of Sour Lake; grandparents, Charles B. and Barbara Soileau of Woodville; mother- and father-in-law, Becky and Todd Carriere, of Vidor; grandparents-in-law, Audrey and Roy Oathoudt of Louisiana. Also to cherish his memory are his wonderful nieces and nephews, Natalie Davis, Mikayla Winfree, Jesse Tyler Bernal and Noah Sherman and host of friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be the West Orange Firefighters, Randy Veitch (chief), Mike Simon (assistant chief), Donovan Wise, Terry Veitch, Kendal Veitch, Dean Dyson and Grady Gray.
