Early voting for the November 2 General Election began Monday. Hours to vote in Orange will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Oct. 23.

Early voting will resume on Monday Oct. 25 and close at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29.

Booth locations will be the Orange Public Library, 220 N. Fifth St. in Orange; the Bridge City Public Works Department, 220 Nitsche in Bridge City; Mauriceville First Baptist Church, 11540 Hwy. 12 in Mauriceville; and Raymond Gould Community Center, 385 Claiborne St. in Vidor.

The Precinct 4 commissioners seat is the only Orange County contested race. This seat will go to one of two political newcomers.

Democrat, Percy Flanagan is the candidate who defeated incumbent Beamon Minton in the March primary.

Republican, Jody Crump is running against Flanagan.

Only Precinct 4 residents are able to vote for the position.

The Governor’s race seems to have gained the most interest with incumbent Rick Perry, a Republican, seeking his fourth term.

Former Houston Mayor Bill White, a Democrat, is challenging Perry.
