The West Orange-Stark Mustangs were too much for the Bridge City Cardinals under a full moon Saturday night  at Larry Ward Stadium. The ‘Stangs won the crucial matchup 28-0 on Saturday claiming the No. 1 spot in Dist. 21-3A. Both squads went into the contest undefeated in district..

The Cardinals could only produce 119 yards of total offense against the Mustangs.

Led by sophomore quarterback Jimmy Salter, WOS ran loose against the Cardinals with four long drives that started in the first quarter when Salter scored from the 1 yard line after moving the ball 56 yards to the goal.

In the second quarter Britton Lindsey capped off a 62-yard drive by scoring from the 10 yard line.

After a scorelless third quarter the Mustangs marched 84 yards to score when Colin Janice carried it in from the 21-yard line with 11:17 left on the clock.

Before ending the night the Mustangs rambled 85 yards late in the fourth quarter that was capped off by a 26 yard TD pass from Salter to wide receiver Mark Roberts and the 28-0 victory over Bridge City.

Tanner Cervenka, Mitchel Hubbard and Tyler Roberts each had interceptions for Bridge City.

The Mustang defense held Bridge City quarterback Matt Menard to 31 yards on 11 carries in the first half.
