Homecoming week is in full swing for the Bears. The theme for this week is “LCM Dream, Believe, Achieve – Magical Homecoming 2010.” They kick-started the week with a parade on Monday, Oct. 25 and “Tacky Tourist Day” on Tuesday, Oct. 26. The students are dressing up for “Nerd Day” today and Thursday, Oct. 28 is “Teacher Appreciation Day.”
 The students are encouraged to dress up like their favorite adult on campus and mimic their attire. Friday, Oct. 29 is “Spirit Day with a Twist.” The students are encouraged to dress up for spirit day like they would if they lived in a retirement village.

The football game against Livingston will begin at 7:30 p.m. Grab your green and gold and head out to support the Bears!

This year’s Homecoming Court is as follows:

Freshman Girls:
Ashlee Lauren Meadows is the daughter of Corey Meadows, Shawn Thompson and the granddaughter of Harriette Risings. She is on the track team and is a cheerleader for LCM. She was a member of the National Junior Honor Society during the seventh and eighth grade. She is a member of the LCM Student Council, Texas Dance Expressions Dance Team and is the freshman class secretary. She is a member of the United Methodist Church youth group in Orange.

Haley Francis Wright, daughter of Carla Lavergne and Dennis Wright, is a cheerleader and is on the volleyball, basketball, softball and track teams. She is the vice president of the freshman class student council and is a member of the VIL Group Acting. She participates in the LCM choir and is a member of the Mauriceville Baptist youth group. She was named “Most Friendliest Girl” in the eighth grade.

Savanna Smith, daughter of Brandt and Gloria Smith, is on the basketball and track teams. She is the freshman class president and a member of the Student Council, Key Club and FCA. She is a dancer at Ingram’s School of Dance. She was named Miss LCJH and Highest Ranking Student in the eighth grade. She is an active member at Fellowship Church of Christ.

Freshman Boys:
Lane Frillou, son of Jill Frillou and Shane Frillou, is on the track, basketball and football teams.

Ivy Joseph Blanda, son of Michael and Stephanie Blanda, is on the football, basketball and track team. He is the vice president of the Student Council and is a member of “Columbian Squires,” a youth organization of The Knights of Columbus. He is a member of Keysis and was a member of the National Junior Honor Society in the eighth grade.

Jacob Richard, son of Joey and Angela Richard, is on the football and basketball teams. He plays the flute and was named Mr. MMS 2010 and All American Scholar.

Sophomore Girls:
Demi Sheppard, daughter of Todd and Laurie Sheppard, is on the volleyball, softball and basketball teams. She is a member of the Key Club and the Texas Association of Future Educators. She is also of the Catholic Youth Ministry of St. Maurice Catholic Church.

Tara Thompson, daughter of Tommy and Tana Thompson, is on the varsity basketball team and is an LCM cheerleader. She is a member of the Student Council and is the sophomore class secretary. She was named Star Student as a freshman, was an All American nominee and was named to the All Tournament Team for the Hampshire-Fannett Tournament. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Raven Cole, daughter of Robert and Stacia Cole, is on the varsity softball team and on the power lifting team. She holds the title for World Record Squat and Newcomer of the Year for softball.

Sophomore Boys:
Alex Maurice Sezer Jr., son of Alex and Maranda Sezer, is on the track and football teams. He was named “Outstanding Band Member” for  2006-2007, “Most Athletic Boy” for 2008-2009, Mr. LCJH for 2009-2010 and was a member of the National Junior Honor Society. He received many medals during the 2009-2010 track season. He attends the Church of God Jesus Christ in Vinton, La.

Coleton Boudreaux, son of Dwayne and Laura Boudreaux, is on the football, track and power lifting teams. He is a volunteer at the Special Olympics.

Casey Viator, son of Ricky and Deborah Viator, is on the football, baseball and track teams. As a freshman he participated in the band, lettered in track and was named Star Student. He volunteers at the Mauriceville Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner. He is a member of the St. Maurice Catholic Church. His brother, Joseph, plays football for the Lamar Cardinals.

Junior Girls:
Lyndsey Windham, daughter of Jimmy and DeeDee Windham, is a varsity cheerleader and a member of Dance Expressions. She is the student body treasurer, on the National Honor Society and a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Payton Burns, daughter of Steve and Clare Burns, is on the cross country and basketball teams. She is the president of the Key Club and an inductee in the National Honor Society. She was named Star Student as a freshman and sophomore. She is also a member of the First Presbyterian Church youth group.

Jordan Parker, daughter of Dr. Calvin Parker and Dr. Suzette Parker, is an LCM varsity cheerleader and is on the basketball team. She is a member of Student Council and is the junior class president. She is also a member of the Orange Jazz Company and is very involved with the Keysis youth group and is the group treasurer at St. Francis Church.

Junior Boys:
Kyle Herfurth, son of Kevin and Michelle Herfurth, is on the football and track team. He is a member of the Key Club and the LCM Student Council. He attends the Drive Center every Wednesday and has played the piano his entire life.

Preston Armstrong, son of Preston and Stephanie Armstrong, is on the football and basketball teams. He is a member of the Student Council and was named second team all-district basketball. He also attends El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Hayden Reed, son of Neville and Ellen Reed, is on the football and track teams. He is a member of the Student Council and an inductee to the National Honor Society. He received the 2010 Track and Field MVP Award, 2009 Football All District Honorable Mention and Star Student Award during his freshman and sophomore  year. He is the junior class president and a member of the First Baptist Church youth group.

Senior Girls:
Allison Walker, daughter of Kyle and Stacey Walker, is on the volleyball team, a member of the National Honor Society and is the Student Council vice president. She is a member of the First Baptist Church youth group in Orange. She is on the A-B Honor Roll, an Academic All District and will be attending Texas A&M University in the fall.

Emily Hughes, daughter of Mike and Anna Hughes, is the senior captain on the varsity soccer team, is on the varsity tennis team and the varsity track team. She is a member of the National Honor Society, student body secretary. She is an Academic All-District and on the A-B Honor Roll. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Orange. She will be attending the University of Texas in Dallas and will be playing for the Lady Comets.

Jaleeca Reshaé Morris is daughter of Dee Lopez and granddaughter of the Rev. Jimmy and Evia Rodgers. She is a member of the drill team, Student Council and HOSA. She is the vice president of the youth and young adults at her church. She has been dancing at the Rose Thayer Academy of Dance for 15 years and is a member of Dance Expression Dance Team. She has been a drill team field officer for three years and is now the current class representative and captain. She plans to attend college to become an anesthesiologist.

Magen Issacs, daughter of Branden Welch and Sonya Welch, is on the track team and is the “Little Bear” mascot. She is the FCA Chaplain , the National Honor Society Project Chairman and is a member of a youth group that is part of “Core Group.” She was on the MMS Homecoming court in the ninth and tenth grade, named Miss Mistletoe and Newcomer of the Year for cross country and track in the ninth grade. She has been on two mission trips and participates in church fundraisers and community service.

Destiny Arteaga, daughter of Mario and Lisa Arteaga, is a cheerleader and on the track team. She is the current student body president and a student council officer. She is the president of the Texas Association of Student Councils District 17 and is the secretary for the Texas Energy Education and Development. She was nominated for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award and the Philanthropic Educational Organization Sisterhood Scholarship. She was named All American Cheerleader and Academic All district Athletic Team. She received the Rotary Youth Leadership Award and is a counselor. She is an active member of the student government and has attended multiple leadership conferences at the state and national level. She is attending the University of Texas in Austin in the fall and will major in petroleum engineering.

Shelbi Tucker, daughter of Mark and Julie Tucker, is on the basketball and volleyball teams. She is the senior class treasurer, a member of the Student Council and service chairman for the National Honor Society. She is a member of a catholic youth group, has volunteered at a Senior Citizens Banquet and has participated in the Relay for Life. She is on the A-B Honor Roll, has perfect attendance and was named Academic All-District.

Senior Boys:
Colby Nations, son of Crystal and Dean Guidry, is a member of the First Baptist Church of Orange and is on the tennis team. He enjoys attending church organizations and supports the Bears at every game.

Zac Blanchard, son of Dawn Moore and Mark Blanchard, is on the football, track and soccer team. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the St. Maurice Catholic Church youth group.

Jonathan Allen, son of Doug and Nancy Allen, is on the varsity baseball team, tennis team and the Grizzly Crew. He is the FCA treasurer and the National Honor Society treasurer. He was named First Team All-District Utility Baseball Player and received the Rotary Youth Leadership Attendance Award. He is a member of the youth group at the Little Cypress Baptist Church. He plans to attend the University of Texas in Dallas and major in biochemistry.

Zack Sonnier, son of the Mark and Christine Sonnier, is on the football and track teams. He was named All-District Football team, All SETX Football team and was nominated for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. He is a member of the Student Council and an active member in his church youth group.

Zederick Cezar, son of Archange Cezar and Shirley Gilbert, is a member of the Southeast Texas Marine Corp. and the camber choir. He loves to play basketball, video games and being with his friends.

Samuel Burton, brother of Kayla Steepleton, is on the football and track team.
