Charles C. Zoch of Vidor, 82, passed away on Friday, Oct. 29 from complications following heart surgery. Funeral services were held Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Orange under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.

Charles was born July 28, 1928 in Giddings. 

He is survived by Patsy, his wife of 44 years; daughter and son-in-law, Dana K. and Mark Mortimer; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Dana Zoch; and two grandchildren, Cameron and Noelle.  He is also survived by his sister, Delores Munsell and numerous sisters and brothers-in-law. 

Charles was proceeded in death by his parents, August and Laura Zoch; sister, Shirley Schwartz; and brother Floyd Zoch.

Charles attended Emmanuel Lutheran Parochial School, Giddings High School, and earned an Associates Degree from Blinn College at the age of 19.  He moved to the Golden Triangle and began his career at DuPont Sabine River Works in 1947 in the Electrical Department. He took three years off to join the Army during the Korean War, where he repaired electronic equipment.  He was married in 1953 to Arlene Wagner of Port Arthur. They had two children. 

Arlene passed away in 1963 in an automobile accident.  Charles married Pasty Ruth Mulhollan of Orange on May 23, 1966.  During this period, Charles attended night classes at Lamar College of Technology in Beaumont, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1967.  Charles continued his career at DuPont for over 42 years, retiring as Sr. Technical Associate in 1990. 

In 1969, Charles and Pat purchased some land off Interstate 10.  There they began spending all of their free time to change the property to match their dreams.  Charlie’s passion was “The Land.”  He loved to tackle new problems and challenges and was always able to develop unique solutions.  Charlie made himself available to help others. 

Charles attended Grace Lutheran Church in Orange and was instrumental in the construction of its new sanctuary.  Charles loved his Lord, his wife, his children, grandchildren, and all his family.  He continued working towards his dreams until the end of his life.  Charlie will be missed by everyone who knew him.
