The Stark Museum of Art, in partnership with Lamar State College-Orange, will offer a Block Printing Holiday Card Workshop on Saturday, November 20, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and a Bookmaking Workshop on Saturday, December 4, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration for both classes is required through Lamar State College-Orange Continuing Education, 409.882.3321.

 The Block Printing Holiday Card Workshop will be held November 20.  Participants will learn how to create a block print and use this new skill to create holiday cards and gift tags. A tour of the Stark Museum of Art will provide inspiration and include a discussion of printmaking methods. Beginners are welcome. Supplies will be provided. The workshop fee is $40.

During the Bookmaking Workshop December 4, participants will learn basic bookmaking techniques and create their own personalized sketchbook or journal. The workshop will begin with a tour of the medieval Books of Hours currently on view at the Stark Museum, which will serve as inspiration for the hand-made books. Beginners are welcome. Supplies to make one sketchbook or journal will be provided. The workshop fee is $45.

Both workshops will be led by instructor Amelia Wiggins, who holds a BFA in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art and currently works as Educator for Public Programs at the Stark Museum of Art.
