A Southeast Texas teenager was killed in a car accident near Kountze overnight. The fatality is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Troopers say 19 year old Cody Mitchell Ferguson was driving a Chevrolet Blazer on FM 770 around 2:30 am this morning. That’s about 8 miles from Kountze. Ferguson was a recent West Hardin High School and was attending Blinn College.

Troopers say Ferguson lost control on a curve causing his Blazer to flip.

Ferguson was ejected along with a passenger from the backseat. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The passenger is identified as 16 year old Victoria Burnett from Saratoga. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

In addition, there were two other passengers injured. They were transported to Christus Hospital Saint Elizabeth.

Their conditions range from stable to critical. DPS says speed was a factor in the accident.
Ferguson from Saratoga graduated from West Hardin in this year.
