Coach Tennison would have been proud. On Saturday the Orangefield Lady Bobcats won the championship of the 36th annual basketball tournament that now bares his name.

The Lady Bobcats defeated HCYA-Houston, 55-39, in the final round of the Bill Tennison Memorial Basketball Tournament in Bobcat Gym. Marissa Wyatt was named Most Valuable Player and Lady Bobcat teammate Kasidy Hayes received All-Tournament honors.

The tournament began on Thursday with a tribute to longtime Orangefield coach Bill Tennison. He passed away in September after a courageous battle with cancer.

The Lady Bobcats were host to Little Cypress-Mauriceville, Vidor, Bridge City and HCYA.
