At Saint Mary Catholic Church in Orange celebrated Saint Nicholas Feast Day, Dec. 6, by parishioners collecting toys and donating them to Orange Christian Services. On the night of celebration, this toy gets the parishioner a bowl of soup.

The Parish Council prepares potato soup as a pauper’s meal to be served to these church members after Mass on the day chosen to remember Saint Nicholas. The meal consists of the soup, bread, and a drink. No dessert is served to remind us that there are needy people in the world who would consider this meal a feast.

At this year’s celebration, potato soup was prepared and served by council members Judge Pat Clark, Rosa Fuller, Francisca Garza, Jeanette Boehme, Johnny Lucia, Mike Trahan, and Susan Bayliss. Approximately 200 toys were bagged and delivered to Orange Christian Services.
