The W.H. Stark House will host its 7th Annual Holiday Open House on Thursday, Dec. 16, starting at 5 p.m. and lasting until 8 p.m. each evening. The Holiday Open House is The Stark House’s gift to the community where friends and family gather to enjoy the season with live musical performances, tours to view holiday décor and delightful refreshments.

The Carriage House, located directly behind The W.H. Stark House at 610 W. Main, will serve as the entrance to this event, where cookies and holiday punch will be served. From there, visitors will be offered a chance to see the House decorated with seasonal greenery during complimentary First-Floor tours. A Christmas tree adorned with one-of-a-kind handmade ornaments will grace the Foyer, and the Music Room will be alive with holiday music. Ed Wilson will perform on the original 1910 Steinway Grand Piano and will be accompanied by flutist Jennifer Howland as the ensemble plays seasonal favorites throughout the evening. Ellen Rienstra has played H.J. Lutcher Stark’s childhood violin for the past seven years, but, unfortunately, she won’t be able to perform due to an illness.

In addition, the Stark Museum of Art will host their Holiday Exhibit Celebration featuring gallery spotlights, the Lone Star Pipe Band performed on Tuesday, Dec. 14 and the Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School Band will perform on Thursday, Dec. 16. Refreshments will be served in the lobby.

“The annual Holiday Open House at The W.H. Stark House is a perfect way to begin the holiday season,” says Patsy Herrington, director of The W.H. Stark House. “For two nights at both The W.H. Stark House and the Stark Museum of Art in downtown Orange, friends and family have the opportunity to visit and enjoy seeing the sights and sounds of the holiday season.”
This event is free to the public and children accompanied by an adult are welcome. Entrance for the Holiday Open House is through the Carriage House, located directly behind The W.H. Stark House, at 610 West Main Avenue.

This year’s attendance set a record with over 400 visitors attending the first night.
Both The W.H. Stark House and Stark Museum are participating in the Blue Santa program and will have donation boxes for those wishing to bring a new, unwrapped toy to be given to a child in need.
