Alvin Greene, the surprise Democratic nominee in the South Carolina
Senate race against incumbent Republican Sen. Jim DeMint, is trying it
again. Greene, a political novice, shocked the political world in South
Carolina when he emerged as the winner in the Democratic primary for
Senate last summer. Party officials urged him to withdraw from the
contest when news emerged that he had previously been charged with
showing pornographic images to a college student, but he refused to bow
out. He did not mount much of a campaign for the Senate seat.
