Kimberlyn I. “Kim” Phelps, 52, of Bridge City, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, at her residence. Services to remember her life will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, Jan. 8, in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.

Officiating will be the Rev. Ed Rawls, pastor of the Silver Oaks Baptist Church in Mauriceville. Interment will follow services in Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange. A gathering of family and friends for a time of reflection will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Born on July 24, 1958 to her parents, Joseph Lawrence Martel, Sr. and Betty Lou (Wilson) Martel, Kim was a lifelong resident of Southeast Texas where she resided in Bridge City for the last 5 years and lived in Vidor previously.

Kim was of the Christian faith, she was a homemaker, she enjoyed reading and she loved animals.

Kim is preceded in death by her brother, Scot Martel, Sr. and her uncle, Ray Wilson.

Those who will most cherish her memory are her loving husband, Robert Phelps of Bridge City; her daughter, Gillian Briggs and husband, Kirk of Vidor; her sister, Denise McDaniel of Vidor, her brother, Joseph Lawrence Martel, Jr. and wife, Donna of Vidor and her grandson, Camden Briggs of Vidor.Kim is also survived by numerous extended family and friends.

Honoring Kim as pallbearers are John Phelps, Bruce Munroe, Ricky Gore, Kirk Briggs, Mark Welborn and David Martin.
