Kendall Kress, a senior student-athlete at Orangefield High School, who excels in softball, has received the Stars Over Texas Scholarship for 2011.

This scholarship was presented by Ronnie and Nara Cole to one recipient this year. They chose from a number of prospective area softball players. It was given to an outstanding softball senior player of good moral character, and an excellent student who plans to further their education at a university of their choice.

Kendall was chosen based on the application process that included: an essay, class rank and SAT scores. She must also have participated in the popular Stars Over Texas Softball Tournaments. She is a member of the Orangefield Lady Bobcats’ softball team and Out of Control coached by Billy Mitchell.

She is the daughter of Matthew and Charlene Kress of Orangefield, and the grand-daughter of Tom and Geri Barland of Lumberton.
