Orange County prepares for artic cold front
According to The Weather Channel, (weather.com), today we should be seeing a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain from the deep South Texas into Louisiana, Mississippi Alabama and into parts of Georgia. Of course, this will affect roads, bridges and the vegetation. Temperatures will drop into the low 30’s tonight and we’ll have a 90 percent chance of precipitation.
On Friday, we’ll have an 80 percent chance of a light wintery mix in the morning. As the day progresses, the chance of precipitation dwindles. Friday night, temps will drop into the mid-twenties.
County offices, local businesses and local schools (see list below) have started to prepare for hazardous weather.
When roadway conditions do turn icy, motorists are advised to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. If they must go out, motorists should drive according to the conditions and consult www.txdot.gov for current roadway condition information and winter weather driving tips. Information on Texas roadway conditions is also available by calling the Texas Road Condition and Travel Information Line, 1-800-452-9292.
